Sheetah et les Weissmüller :: I Need You E.P.

Hip and swinging like their namesake, Sheetah et les Weissmüller bring the garage psych beat on their new I Need You E.P. on Tryptich Records. 4 vibrant buzzing cuts pay respect to their favorite heyday with swirling keys, ragged guitars and hooks galore. If you’re a fan of Baby Woodrose’s more straight up garage outings, Vibravoid’s less freaky interstellar pop outings, and pioneers like The Seeds and ? & the Mysterians on out, then Sheetah may be your cup of tea. The French quintet pack as much energy as they can into tight tracks that dodge the retro gutter and go more for revivalism. Resurrecting 4 cuts from the ’60s French freak beat scene (Les Sunlights, Les 5 Gentlemen, Norman Frechette & Les Hou-Lops, Antoine), Sheetah et les Weissmüller barnstorm and jerk through their takes dragging the past into the now and reminding the faithful why it’s important to remember where you came from. And why it’s good to sweat it out sometimes. Loose, ragged and tight at the same time, I Need You is a modern, vigorous love letter to a particular ground zero that spawned much more than shaking hips and vintage clothes.
